I've been having a blast with the students who returned to lesson with me this summer, and some new ones too! There are flies, there is mud, it's hot and dusty...but everyone is working hard in their lessons and I'm seeing a lot of smiling faces. It is great to see you guys feeling good about the progress you're making and see you having fun in the process. For me, that is what it is all about.
I'm blessed with a group of students who are compassionate and tuned-in to the horse. They notice little nicks on their horse's skin, sunburn, etc. and take care of it, they remember to praise throughout their ride, they bring treats with them to the barn, and best of all they put effort into becoming soft, balanced and confident riders, which makes the horses very happy in their work.
Even though my energy is stretched thin right now between the baby, teaching, and my own (more sporadic than I'd like) riding, seeing you all enjoying yourselves and becoming good horsemen and women makes it worth it. Thank you for giving me another great summer teaching at Sioux River Stable...it really is my pleasure!
